Melanie Trowbridge M.D. is a physician (medical doctor) with Psychiatric Residency and Fellowship training in psychopharmacological management and psychotherapy.
She received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio, graduating magna cum laude, majoring in Biology with dual minors in Psychology and Chemistry.
She earned her Medical Doctorate (M.D.) degree from the Medical College of Ohio (now University of Toledo). During this time, she was privileged to be selected for several prestigious placements, including training with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).
Doctor Trowbridge took her Medical Residency Internship year at the University of California, Irvine. Her Residency continued at the University of California Davis. During her Psychiatry Residency years, Dr. Trowbridge rotated with local mental health providers such as UC Davis Medical Center, Sutter Center for Psychiatry, Travis Air Force Base, Sacramento Mental Health Treatment Center, River Oaks Center for Children, and the Veteran's Administration.
Dr. Trowbridge furthered her Psychiatry Specialty by choosing a Sub-Specialty Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California Davis. She was selected as the Child and Adolescent Chief Resident.
During the decade following graduation from Residency, Dr. Trowbridge's prior private practice in Sutter Creek, California, allowed her to support a patient population of adults, adolescents, children and families. She also worked under contract with group homes such as the River Oaks Center for Children, Briar Oaks Group Home, and consulted to primary care providers and other groups on issues pertaining to Psychological Health and Psychiatric Care.
For a decade, Melanie Trowbridge held a tenured faculty position as Associate Professor in the School of Psychology of Jessup University (a private Christian university) with campuses in Rocklin and San Jose, California as well as Portland, Oregon. She served as Co-Chairperson of the School of Psychology's undergraduate program; Instructing in both the Master's and Undergraduate programs, where Dr. Trowbridge taught couses such as BioPsychology, PsychoPharmacology, Abnormal Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.
Opened in 2020, Dr. Trowbridge's office in Roseville, California, is a private practice that allows her to support private-pay patients near Roseville, Auburn, Granite Bay, Loomis, Grass Valley, Rocklin, Folsom, Fair Oaks, El Dorado Hills, Rancho Cordova and neighboring parts of the Greater Sacramento Area.

Dr. Trowbridge is a Christian physician who shares the professional opinion that the best mental health professionals appreciate how to treat using a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual approach that recognizes how our Creator has so skillfully knit us together to produce our whole being. She embraces this perspective as it relates to each individual's (including her own) thoughts and behaviors. Dr. Melanie respects all patients' responsibility for their own life choices, viewpoints, and religious affiliations.
In her personal life, Melanie Trowbridge is married to her husband of 30+ years. The couple has two grown children. They enjoy their relationships with friends and family and in serving Jesus and others. She and her family enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking, horseback riding, sailing, gardening, fly fishing and exploring everywhere possible in their renovated vintage Airstream trailer.
